Plagiarism Policy

Sustainable Economics & Business Review (SEBR) maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. The journal is fully committed to upholding academic integrity, originality, and ethical scholarly publishing practices.

All manuscripts submitted to SEBR must be original works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any form of plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, is considered a serious violation of publication ethics.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text, data, figures, or ideas without proper citation
  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without acknowledgment
  • Self-plagiarism, including redundant or duplicate publication
  • Improper reuse of previously published materials without disclosure
  • Unattributed use of content generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Plagiarism Screening

Every manuscript submitted to SEBR is screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or equivalent tools) before entering the peer review process. The similarity report is carefully evaluated by the editorial team.

Similarity Thresholds and Editorial Actions

  • Similarity > 40%: The manuscript will be rejected immediately due to excessive plagiarism. No resubmission will be allowed.
  • Similarity 15%–40%: The manuscript will be returned to the author for major revision. Authors must improve citations, paraphrasing, and resubmit with a new similarity report.
  • Similarity < 15%: The manuscript may proceed to peer review, although minor citation improvements may still be required.

Authors are required to ensure that all cited sources are properly referenced and that paraphrased content is written in their own academic language.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

SEBR allows limited use of AI tools for language editing or grammar assistance only. Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI in the manuscript. AI-generated content must not replace human intellectual contribution, analysis, or interpretation.

Manuscripts may also undergo an AI similarity check. If AI-generated similarity exceeds acceptable limits, authors will be required to revise and provide full disclosure. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their work.

Post-Publication Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected after publication, SEBR will take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidelines. This may include issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.

Author Responsibility

By submitting a manuscript to SEBR, authors confirm that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. Any ethical violation may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, and possible restrictions on future submiss
